Default 135 Days Until Trout Opener!!

    Yes I said 135 days!!!!!

Wisconsin has the longest closed season of any of the Driftless Area states.

Iowa stays open year round and Minnesota opens on January 01.

These last 2 weeks of excellent weather could have been spent trout fishing here in Wisconsin. The dog days of winter in February when I need a trout fix I should be able to fish Wisconsin.

Nope .....I have to wait until the first Saturday of March each year to go chase trout.

The snow is coming down hard in this photo and the trout are eager! I love fishing in the snow. I am the angler in the photo.

    to enjoy, to love.

That is a long wait, but don't you have ice fishing for 'Eyes"? I know you have to use a really short fly rod but at least you are getting out there. Just think of the wait as a time you can build a rod, tie a massive number of flies or for once actually get the old tying table cleaned and organized. Have a good winter. It is slow to arrive over here but I finally had ice on my truck for the first time two mornings ago and our leaves are finally turning. Larry ---sagefisher---

    Kelly,
    Go south young man.....
I live in a Hawaii now, but grew up in the lower Midwest.
Next week, I am traveling to a family function in Minnesota. Along the way, I am going to stop and fish one of the Missouri "Trout Parks"...Bennett Spring.
I grew up 12 miles from there. The park closes Nov 1st, but opens a week later to catch and release...fly fishing.
Also some good winter fishing in Ark. The White, Norfolk.
Ever try those during the fall/winter?

QK, yea it is kind of hard to get the line to load the rod and still cast it into that 6 inch hole. By the way, looks like that outfit you showed worked fairly well to me, nice collection of pan fryers. Larry ---sagefisher---
