    Default A Z-Bug

I was playing around with some zelon and decided to tie this simple fly.
    Tail - Bucktail Fibers
    Body - Dry Fly Dubbing
Fly Back and Wings - Doubled strand of Zelon pulled over, divided, and tied upright
    Hackle - Grizzly

Let me know what you think.
    Thanks,
    Byron

I love it. I looks really neat. It reminds me of a humpy.

I'm going to have to give one of those a try.

    Hi Byron.
I tied similar flies a few years back wanting a Humpy-style fly with a back that would stand up better to fish teeth. Tried a craft store yarn for the back and wings, then Poly Yarn and Float-Vis. I liked it for smaller sizes because you could leave the fibers as long as you like and trim to final length after the wing is divided. Also, if you don't want the back and wing the same color, you can use white and color the back with permanent marker.
    Great looking fly!!

Heck, I figured I would mess up the word, that's the reason I typically try to avoid big word..

Okay, does it soak up water or repel it?

    Jesse,
Zelon has been used for years as the trailing shuck on all Sparkle Dun patterns as originally developed by Craig Mathews and John Juracek of a Blue Ribbon flies. The material does not mat when wet. It is also used as part of the wing on the Improved a sparkle a Dun.
It is a crinkly material and floats OK.

    Easy to change variables.
