    Default Finally...another Grass Carp!!

I finally caught fly rod Grass Carp #4 last night. 30.5", estimated weight of at least 14 lbs.
    I blogged about it here:

Nice Dave, that should have taken you a few minutes. The a pretty good personal best mark.

Yes... It was a 25-minute battle I had little expectation of winning!

Nice job! There are a number of them in the lake I live on, but I do 99% of my fishing from my kayak so usually by the time I see them, they've already seen me and headed for deep water. Very spooky fish.

This was definitely a nice fish, but it didn't make my Personal Best list. That distinction goes to a 36.5", 25 lb (calculated) Grass Carp.
The lengths of Grass Carp I've landed on fly gear so far are:
    36.5"
    33"
    30.5"
    29"

I have caught 3 grass carp that I recall, my best considerably smaller than your at around 7.5 lbs. But a fish that size on a 3wt. is a lot of fun. Are you targeting them or is it a happenstance? What kind of flies are you using, mine have been on droppers below a popper or hopper.

Twice I was targeting, twice I was just extremely lucky. The first 3 hit boa yarn leeches. This last one hit a cactus chenille bugger/leech. All of these patterns sink very slow and push some water.
