Allow me to add and somewhat correct my previous response. I thought I had seen some pattern style very similar to what you tyed but couldn't recall what it was. It just hit me. It's a 'Funneldun' sans tail.

The Funnelduns I tie are fished upside down. Quite different from these patterns

Any pattern can be tyed to be up or down. I've seen funnelduns tyed with hair or hackle that land with barb up or down. Will I direct you "to a couple examples of a funnel dun fly not tied for fishing USD?" - I'm not going to search the internet, so No!
