I was a helicopter crew chief for around 20 years and never tried to hover a helicopter but I remember watching an accomplished pilot trying to teach a couple of guys hover. I thought they would crash at any moment. Hovering a helicopter requires the correct movements of both hands and both feet and intense concentration (at least until you have done it many times.) Birds do it with ease and rarely make a hard landing. Sirrom can correct any misstatements I made on this subject.
