OK. Here's what I came up with. Those wire dubbing brush thingys are expensive, and the brushes themselves are not cheap, either. I was wondering why you couldn't just tie in a wire loop and do it just like a normal dubbing loop. Well, you can. I modified one of Puglisi's shrimp patterns (just change the colors to orange and brown, add some claws and Presto! Instant Crawfish...). I just got back from testing one in the stream behind the house and caught 2 SM Bass in 6 casts (my stream has a lot of SM Bass in it, as well as trout a little further upstream...).

Mouth Parts and Feelers: Orange Bucktail with a few strands of copper Krystal Flash
Eyes: large black bead-chain
Body: Wire dubbing brush made like a regular dubbing loop, with alternating sparse clumps of brown and orange Puglisi fibers cut into 1" lengths, and a few short strands of the copper Krystal Flash every so often.
