Normally my own personal rods are usually pretty tame looking, but when I decided to build this one for this years long Au Sable trip I made the decision to make this one a full on "look at me" show/flashy build.
Started with a 9' 3wt 4pc Mod/Fast Titanium colored Bingham blank which has a real nice smooth feel to it and a killer metallic titanium color. Added a Lemke reel seat which has milled slots in it and did a skeleton fish bones image on both sides of the blank so it shows through the vents of the seat. Did the grip with Various corks and red accents and sliced some of the burled cork to taper down from 1/2" to 1/4" to 1/8" to 1/16" slices. The wraps are Candy apple red with CP, then black wide trim, and single turn metallic as well as double turn metallic trim on SF guides Topped it off with one of Bigdadyrods aluminum reels with the anodized red drag drum. This one is gonna be put to use every day for 16 days straight starting this Saturday.
