    Default 8' 3wt 7pc Pack Rod

This is a 8' 3wt 7pc rod for a customer for backpacking and hiking into some streams. Uses a turned piece of birds eye maple for the insert set in NS BUL5 hardware. Grip is about 6.5" to make the overall size/weigh fitting to the small compact rod. SF guides with blue dun (no CP) wraps and single turn metallic trim bands round it out.

This is the last of the customer rods before I leave for my fishing trip Friday. Now I get to finish building a rod for myself tonight and then hit the vice to have a tying marathon for the next few days!

Beautiful work as always - what blank did you use Steve? Thanks, Cliff

Cliff it's one of the blanks Roger Penrose sells on Ebay. IM6 graphite and a mod/fast action rating but I would call it more of a true moderate IMO which makes for a nice casting rod.

Steve, good fishing to you! May the fish you catch be as beautiful as the rods you build!
