    Question Sheep hair vs. wool

Are the terms sheep hair and wool interchangeable? I have an assortment of "Icelandic sheep hair" on untanned hide and several packets of "sculpin wool".

Icelandic Sheep is more for winging. Its a particular kind of sheep that has longer looser hair Quite similar to goat hair. I use it for wings on salmon tubes. Skulpin wool is carded wool. Don't buy it! Get felting wool instead. Same stuff 1/10th the price. Available in lots of colours.

    Cheers,

    Ray,

Short answer to your question is, YES! In general, sheep hair and wool are interchangeable. But they may not be the same because there are degrees of differences between various 'sheep'. Simple example: you read a book that contains a recipe for a pattern and for the wing it just says 'bear hair'. Black, Brown, Polar?
Now isn't that as clear as mud?
