I bet that gets an explosive strike.
    Trout don't speak Latin.

Thinking replacing the red with a slightly more orange hackle would result in a fly that should be banned for searun cutthroats. I tied a half-dozen on 6 and 8 gold 202SP each last night... Thanks Hans, I really like this one...

Hi hap, love to hear how you get on with the orange collar version. Did you change tag and thread color also?

    Cheers,

I thought Glo-Brite 4 is Fl Orange... I used another synthetic floss in orange. Did not change anything else to speak of though I tend to run my streamer hackle more like spey flies. Tried to do a quickie photo and it shows...

    Hans,

That fly and photo are absolutely spectacular. Nothing in this world is flawless, but that fly looks darn close.

Like Hap, I am really tempted to tie up fishing versions, but for me they will be mostly bluegill size. If I do, mine will probably not have two colors for the tag, as in a bluegill size I am not sure how much difference it will make for fishing, but I might tie in both, don't know right off hand. One thing about fly fishing is that sometimes it is nice to see truly pretty flies in the fly box. I hope my fishing versions turn out as well as Haps.

Again, it is a pleasure to look at that fly.

    Thanks and regards,

    Gandolf

    Hans,

That fly is outrageous! Out of curiosity, what is the instrument holding it for display?

    Cheers.

    Hi Allan,

It is a spring loaded clip a friend made me for this use - to hold the fly for being photographed.

    Hans
I took the Bloody Fox fishing today for red salmon... There were no cutthroats available there! And almost immediately caught a good one (red salmon). Several things conspired against me and I was a tad concerned about a large black bear just around the corner from where I was fishing. So I did not take a photo, figuring to get some of the later fish.

Things conspired against me and I did not catch another fish and was then mad at myself for not getting the first one photographed properly.

I turned an ankle about 6 weeks ago or so and it has been slow to mend. It seemed like nothing much at the time... rub a little dirt on it and walk it off sort of thing, but it keeps coming back at very inconvenient times... By the time I got back to the truck I could barely get my waders off over the swollen ankle... yet it hardly hurts now at all???
