    Default Dark Side

When fishing dries into a glare, being able to see the pattern is often more important than the actual pattern fished. This is when a very dark pattern often is the best choice.

    Hans,
During what hatch would you fish that pattern in a size 14?
    Thanks,

    Byron,

Any mayfly hatch - adjust size as needed. As I tried to convey, the key is to be able to see the pattern when fishing into a glare. Without seeing the pattern, one cannot hope to fish it well.

Thanks Hans. I understood that point. Just wondered about the insect being imitated.

right . or do what many guides do, fish 2 drys at a time using one fly with a natural color and the other with a light or dark wing depending on conditions of glare
