Default Anyone Help with the Yarn Wing Dun Pattern?

I am reading Gary Borger's relatively new book "Fishing the Film". In it, he discusses the Yarn Wing Dun fly. I thought I would try one. Only had zelon handy which is a bit crinkly for this, I think.
Also don't like trimming hackle, so left "as is" - having been tied in the X pattern.

I do like the idea of a backward sloping wing silouhette as I think it more closely represents the dun on the water.

How about posting your "real" Yarn Wing Dun???

    Thanks,
    Byron

I have not read the book you reference but have you tried using Acrylic Punch Yarn?
The stuff I have is two ply and when combed out iy is great to handle.
It is available in a great variety of colors on neatly packaged spools and is very inexpensive.

    Byron,

Here is an SBS on Gary's BLOG, on the pattern:

Tried a PMD imitation using Showshoe Hare fur for wing.

I tie my olives with yarn. I tie on a shuck (brown or olive) make a thread body and then tie in the yarn wing. Has worked great for me this year so far.

The yarn wing comes out much neater. However, I am afraid of the wing absorbing moisture.
I think I will settle on using showshoe rabbit foot hair.
This purports to be a size 16 Flav (Small Western Green Drake).

You're right, Byron. Absorbing water is its only drawback. I prefer snowshoe rabbit myself.
