Default Suggestions needed. Looking for a very light reel seat and

I am having a 5 foot 1 wt. bamboo built for me. I need to find a reel seat and grip with a smaller than normal ID, and light in weight. Janns netcraft has a all cork set up, but I am not sure of the quality for it. Any suggestions?

That is one option I am looking at. I have never done it. Do you need a lathe to turn it?

John, the one from Jann's is very light. I've got a couple on small graphite rods that I fish constantly. Not the best grade of cork, and anodized aluminum hardware. If you want to "dress up" your new rod, you can find better grips. Very utilitarian though.

I remember several months ago, someone posted pics of their modified Jann's handle, and it looked pretty nice. I think the fellow took out one ring, and blunted the fore-end.

I use Jann's cork handle seat combo on my lighter rods. Your right the quality is average. Buy 10 pick the best one and send the rest back. Hole ID is .250. Building your own is easy after a little practice, you don't need a lathe just an electric drill held in a vise...FB.

John: we've got the REC PLRN seat in stock and have numerous satisfied customers that will tell you the cork is definitely above average. A nice light seat with beautiful knurling and details on the nickel silver rings and grip trim ring. You can find it on "Our Store" under "Reel Seats", "REC", "Nickel Silver", page 2...or just search for PLRN!

    Warmly,
