    Default Biot bodies, Why Not?

Biots are commonly used for dry fly and nymph bodies, but I've never seen them before on wet flies... before!

    They may have their place.

    Cheers,
    A.

    Alan,

Beautiful flies. Been using them for a while myself and they work very well.

    Alan,
I have used them for quite a few years. Have an example from the early 90's on my page at Hans' site.

The dun's body has subdued segmentation - more smooth. That is why I tie the biot with the smooth side facing on these.

But, the emerger has a much more pronounced segmentation and that is when I use the shiny side facing outwards...

I love using biots for bodies. In fact, not a wet fly, but I have been tying up Hans's flavio pattern the past couple of days for when our streams open around here.
