Can anyone suggest a source for Veniards or flydyes? I tried flydyes.com and it was blanc.

Veniards only sell wholesale to the trade. I'll make enquiries for you, but with recent increase in postage charges here the price will double on a single pot! Sending a pot of "mud" (Tippet degreasant) went up from ?0.90 to ?3.00 just to give you an idea, and that's just domestic. The dyes are about ?4.50 each (about $6.75), but you will need to be ordering quite a few to make it worth while.
Stop press. Just spoken with a contact who has a Veniards account. He may be able to help. I'll PM you.

A.

The Veniard dyes are top notch, Art, but a very decent alternative are the tubs of Dylon fabric dye.

Thanks for the tip on Dylon... I saw some colors at the local fabric store and shied away from the brand... just 'cause... Chose instead a brand I have never had any success with, Rit! Will try it on my return...
Funny thing... I was able to dye a number of skins a beautiful, colorfast, deep purple with Tulip and clean-up was a snap. Small splashes on the counter cleaned right up.
With the Rit the colors refused to go near the feathers... But man do they ever stick to the counter!!!!
To define things a bit better, what I really want is a "bright" chartreuse... a "hot" orange... a highlander green (I consider that a grassy green on the lighter side)... a blue that really stands out, not real dark, but real bright blue (not turquoise)... a really bright yellow, also.
I use rit all the time along with koolaid and jellos (yes jello) + tumeric and other assorted natural things..with rit wash once, rinse, then set in dye bath (do not boil) set on low for 30. mins add vinigar and sit another 5 mins. take out and rinse in cold water..thats it...
