Best way, don't need to save seat, cut it off with what?? 7 1/2 blonde L.L. Bean bamboo from the 50s or 60s? Thanks for any and all. Would like to put a nice NS Walnut seat on the rod.

I use a jewelr's saw, pliers, and take my tme. Have not had much luck with heating the reel seat. I tried two different seats in boiling water and did not have any luck with either using that technique.

Forgot to mention the obvious. Check to see if the seat is pinned through the blank!
