Really like the look of that fly. What do you think the two-stage wing achieves? Is it a way to avoid the wing ending up at too steep an angle?
    Thanks

Nice Hans, we use a lot of Sedgehogs and Half Hogs on the lochs here. On the presumption that spring will eventually arrive I must get some more tied up. Our best colour combination here is black and read deer hair. Mostly black with one wing of red dyed deer hair.

    Byron,

I would think the design offers a more diffuse wing outline for the same quantity of deer hair.

    Hans,
This one pass? It is on a size 16 std. dry.
As I said, I really like the looks of the pattern. If approved, I will try it in June..........

    Byron,

I would keep the wing a bit shorter, to about half the shuck. Other than that, looks fine to me.

Before you say it - I tied the wing a tad too long myself

    Cheers,

The original Sedgehog had as many as 5 wings of deer hair. Of the many variations we have tried this has been by far the best on the locks here. In sizes 8 to 16.

There is a Canadian pattern which features a similar wing arrangement - the Mikulak Sedge
