Thread: Singe chenille

    Default Singe chenille

    Hey folks, quick question:

I am having a heck of a time with "singe-ing" chenille. Maybe I have the wrong type of chenille. I tie a San Juan worm, singe the ends (which looks great, relatively speaking) but the chenille still wears and tears and shreds quickly. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Am I doing anything wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

Are you using regular chenille? Try the ultra chenille or vermille that is more commonly used for sjw's. If they are still unraveling you could put a drop of head cement on the singed end

As Rainbow said, you need 'Ultra' chenille or 'Vermille'. This material, actually I'm pretty sure they are the same, has the fuzz fused into the core. I've a feeling that the fuzz and the core is a different material then the 'Regular' chenille. When singed, this stuff will kind of melt and fuse at the ends. The 'Regular' chenille simply has the fuzz wrapped in the winding of the core and comes out very easily. Singing this material will not fuse the ends. They actually don't even look alike.

    Hello adglife,
I had that problem, the singed ends unraveled when I fished them. Now I put a drop of head cement on the ends after I singe them! I don't know what is the right stuff to use, cause I use what I have on hand.
    Adios, Philip
