The Mouse Caddis

I, too, love the simplicity of this fly (translation - easier for me to tie) but like so many others here have wondered why adult caddis imitations don't usually have the wing extend well past the body like most real caddis. Have you tried this one on a short shank or extended the wing well past the body?
