We got a picture as well before releasing it. Right before we caught this, I helped a young lady fishing past us with some mending tips. She had been casting on the far side of the stream for an hour with no success, while watching my kids tear them up. I asked her if she wanted some pointers, and she said absoutely. I taught her how to mend, and how to roll cast, and on her 4th try she caught a cutthroat that was about the same size as my sons fish. I netted the fish just as her dad made it over from where his son was fishing. Turns out we are from the same town in MS. That little girl was smiling ear to ear when she showed that fish to her dad. I don't think my son was the only kid that became a flyfisher for life that day.
