    Default Manchester, NH?

    Hi,

My wife is heading to Manchester on business this weekend, and I have a chance to go with her if I want to. On the other hand, I don't want to just wander around bored out of my skull.

Is there any fishing around there at this time of year? I've seen Massabesic (?) Lake on a map, but I have no idea what might be around. I really don't care much about species. I'm not picky at this time of year.

    Thanks,
    Hugh

    Hi Hugh,
Well, if you want to try wading in the snow, we have plenty. I would suggest going to www.stoneriveroutfitters.com. They are a great shop on Route 101 in Bedford, about 15 - 20 minutes west of Manchester. They could tell you what might be good. Also, go to the NH Fish and Game site, don't have it handy, as there are some closed trout ponds around here.
I'll do some searching, Manchester is well east of me, and try to come up with some suggestions. I do have some books, so let me consult them and get back to you. I don't know about your area, but we got another 10 - 12 inches of snow today.

Here in Rhode Island, we got about an inch! Just a little different!
    Thanks for the help!

I'm back. If you go to http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fish..._Southeast.htm, that gives you the region within a reasonable distance of Manchester. If you then go to the main F&G site, there is a section of maps that show you the depth, landings etc. I believe it has info on shoreline access also. Here is the link to that area http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fishing/bathy_maps.htm. For exampel, here is the link to Crystal Lake in Manchester http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fish...manchester.pdf
So, let me know if you zero in on a place, I may have some knowledge of it.

You're very welcome, and it is still snowing.
