    Default Anyone own a first edition (1938) copy of Ray Bergman's "Trout"

    I have a question about a fly that may be included therein.

    My copy is from 1952, I'll check to see if the fly your looking for is in my copy.
    The man who coined the phrase "Money can't buy happiness", never bought himself a good fly rod!

    If you didn't get the answers that you were looking for, I've got the sixth printing of the 1938 "Trout" by Bergman, the one that was done near the end of WW II, and inclusive of the disclaimer that "this book was produced in full compliance of all government regulations for the conservation of paper, metal and other essential materials."     I think I still have it, but it is "home" in Montana, can't check until about the 20th of April.....

    I only have the 1956 edition. How does that differ from the 1938 first edition?

    I believe there were revisions made and new fly patterns added, and others dropped, in later editions.

    Thank you Lady! We have been able to determine the fly we were looking for was not in the first edition.

    It's great that you own a first edition of one of the finest books on trout and trout fishing ever published!
