quite humorous. I asked if you accept the proposition that when ADULT caddis are on the water it is MOST OFTEN the females returning to oviposit her eggs....................
Not whether the ovipositing caddis is a female???????
In other words, the adult stage caddis on the water surface long enough for trout to take them are the returning adult females about to lay their egg sacks or to dive below the surface to deposit their eggs.
This is generally accepted in the literature I am aware of, from Gary LaFontaine to Al Campbel who has an article on this forum about caddis imitations.......
I am getting at the suggestion of an egg sack for a floating caddis pattern.........
I see Al Campbell has a piece on the forum which lays this proposition out quite well and quite similar to Gary LaFontaine's work on Caddis flies.
