Fun read, Ralph.
Reminds me of a day down on the South Fork of the Snake just about five years ago. Nymphing with a big stonefly. Real heavy fish on. Got to be a big brown trout. But he's acting like whitefish. Got to be a big brown trout. But he's acting like a whitefish. That back and forth goes on for a couple minutes until I finally get him to the surface about 20' away.
BIG whitefish. 23" long, healthy, fat, and strong. As big and strong as the biggest browns I caught on the South Fork, and much more endurance than whitefish usually display.
Thanks for jogging my memory.
John
The fish are always right.
