Thanks Uncle, yes, my question was to have an approach -if possible- to a global trout cast, river or lake, summer or fall...etc.
At the end of the long line, after books, videos, shows, millions of discussions, the well-known Adams, EHC, BWO, WB, PT, etc. are always our favorites. All the rest is just for fun, creation, experimentation. Which is the great thing of our sport!
    Thanks guys!

This is easy (I am assuming we are going trout fishing, right?).

Dry: Chernobyl Ant, Black Popper, McPhail Foam Mayfly

Wet: Woolly Bugger, Pheasant Tail, Clouser Minnow

I picked these because if the trout are not cooperative, I can still nail some bass, and sunfish. With these flies, if there is any fish at all in the water, I will catch it. Or turtles, snakes, frogs, etc... Something will bite these patterns. I don't come home empty-handed (unless I choose to turn them all loose...).

Dry: Elk Hair Caddis, Parachute Hare's Ear, Ausable Wulff

Nymph: Beadhead GRHE, Beadhead Zug Bug, Pheasant Tail

I don't consider the wooly bugger a nymph or it would be on the list. I always try to have some ants (both wet and dry) and beetles too.
