    Default cABELA'S HOOKS

Does anyone know who manufactures the cabela's hooks? Their hooks are described as being "chemically sharpened" and list the equivalencies to both Mustad and TMC models.
Since TMC also advertises their hooks as being "chemically sharpened," I am wondering if TMC is actually the manufacturer or perhaps sells them (Cabela's) their factory seconds. Probably a dumb question but I need to place an order for at least 10 different hook styles in a variety of sizes and don't want to be pennywise but pound foolish. I really want to avoid wasted tying time, effort and materials loss as well as the potential to be disappointed in performance at
streamside. It's times like these I really miss my trusted flyshop guys.
    thanks for your input.

    Hi Gerri,

I don't know who manufactures Cabela's hooks, but I have been using them for a while. I haven't had any problems with them, either at the bench or on the water.

Haven't used Cabela's but have tried J Stockard's and like them a lot. They're made in South Korea,,,,maybe Cabela's is made North of there.

No idea who makes them, but their dry fly hooks have caught plenty of fish for me.

I don't know if Cabela's has changed but shortly after they began to offer them I ordered some and they had on the back label the same model # as Daiichi.

For example I have an envelope of Cabela's Model 20 size 12 Quantity 25 ..... the back tag says 1120-Cab-12-25....the 1120 is a Daiici model #.

Anybody out there with recently purchased Cabela's hooks and know what the tags say?
