    Default March Brown Emerger

I tie this fly in three drake colors as-well-as several other colors like this March Brown and smaller sizes for BWO's and PMD's. To fish the fly properly only grease the front hackle and foam loop. This allows the rear of the hook to penetrate the surface film.

tied and photographed by Doug Korn

Hook: MFC #7000 in size 12

    Thread: Danville 6/0 brown/olive

    Shuck: brown zelon

    Rib: brown floss

    Abdomen: hares ear tan dubbing

    Wing: gray razor foam

    Hackle: light bronze grizzly

    Doug,

Very nice; thanks for posting. Hope to hit the hatch up in MT in a few months.

Great looking fly Doug! Do you ever tie them on a curved hook?

Great looking tie. I need to make some of those for Brown Drakes.

I'm guessing that that's actually regular 2mm foam rather than the very thin stuff that I've heard called Razor Foam.

Yes I do.... the MB pictured here is one of many I am now tying for the shop.....

I like the MFC #7048 light wire scud hooks for my loop wings, just go one size larger than usual like if you want to tie size #12's use a #10 7048... This is a deadly fly pattern... But hey, let's just keep that between us OK?
