    Default fishing WV

    Hello,

I am taking a trip to WV, and planed on doing some fishing. I am going to be fishing for trout. I will be heading to the Buckhannon river in the middle of Sept. Any suggestion on what fly patterns might be good?

    Thanks in advance
    Mike

What area do you plan to fish? It's mostly a warm water river this time of year (with some exceptions). Might I suggest you consider going over past Elkins and try the Elk, Glady, Seneca Creek, and the North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac, if you?re really interested in trout. Water conditions will be low this time of year but the Elk in particular generally has good flows. It's a good time for terrestrials, ants, beetles, small hoppers, etc. for trout. If you get into the upper reaches of these creeks the native brookies and gone native rainbows aren't really particular. They'll eat anything thing that looks like a bug! The chubs will drive you crazy too as they are thick in some areas. It's beautiful country. If you?re looking for smallmouth, crayfish patterns, wooly buggers, streamers, etc are good to have (they work on the trout too).

Let me know how you do.
