I used to live in Star Valley, near Thayne, Wyoming and while I've fished the Snake it was always through the canyon, just before it entered Palisades or below the dam so I can't really offer anything for up in the Hole. I would think you'll need an outfitter to cover much water and I don't know how active they are that time of year. I expect narcodog's advice to contact Jack Dennis over in Wilson is probably your best source of info. You mention your son will be there til mid-May but not when you're planning to go. You should be early enough that snow melt won't have much, if any effect, at least until perhaps late in the day. Whatever and whenever you go, enjoy the area, I certainly miss it.
