Been tying these up for spring.
Been tying these up for spring.
Nice job, what is the prey? And what is the body material?

Bodies are soft foam perfect poppers, painted with spray paint and covered with Liquid Fusion. Will be using them for seatrout.
They are very nice. I would guess balsa or cork bodies would be destroyed if the fishing was very good. I have turned a foam body about that size with my rotary tool, but it is very tricky..

I also turn the smaller popper bodies using a dremel, but I use a tool that holds the foam while it turns in the dremel, makes it very easy to turn the body and shape it with a nail file. The tool I use I got from a shop called Soggy Bottom, it comes in 2 sizes that will let you turn large ( 1") , or the small one for bodies down to around size 12. This is one I did with some stacked foam sheets:
That's a nice job also. I have never stacked foam, I guess my daughter has provided me with too many flip flops and the availability of foam kids toys I can misuse. That's a really nice paint job on the saltwater poppers, is that an airbrush or are you just really good with a rattle can?

Just used the rattle can, never heard them called that, great term!! LOL
I use the Liquid Fusion to glue the foam sheets together, but even after drying overnight, they will still fly apart when turning on the dremel. due to the fact that I do not have a variable speed tool. You can really make some wild color combinations with the stacked foam!
Several years ago, I "earned" enough points at Office Depot for a small premium. I got a pack of the various colors of Sharpies. That takes care of a lot of my color, also in addition to flip flops, my daughter has gifted me with her no longer color nail polishes, plus what I pick up at the dollar store. I get mostly clear, metallics and sparkly polish there.

I also have some nail polish that my daughter no longer uses. LOL
Had a guy show me how you can take a sharpie and make a stripe down the back, and before it dries, take your finger and rub downward to make it fade out. Works pretty well if you want the color to fade out. I have used this technique on soft foam, not sure if it would work on cork or balsa.
Love the salties, will take 1 dozen.
Tied these this year, 200 in 4 days
glued all the foam sheets and made my cutters out of rifle shells;
