    Default A pair of 9', 4pc, #7 MHX rods

I am finally getting some rods off the bench!

This is a pair of MHX 9' #7 4pc rods that were commissioned for a once in a lifetime trip to go fishing in Russia for the customer and his son. The reel seat hardware is American Tackle U5. The insert and ends of the full wells grip are claro walnut. The grip is wrapped in rattan. Snake Brand guides. The graphic was kept simple. The background is the skins of Russian Rainbow and Brown trout. The graphics are framed with liar's marks at 16 and 20 inches for measuring those nice Russian trout. The red on the Russian rainbows tends to be much brighter and more vivid than we are used to seeing here in the States. That is on Dad's rod. The thread for the wraps is ProWrap 119-Taxi Cab Yellow and 507-Pea Soup. No CP was used.

Please excuse the dust in the pics. I thought about retaking the pics but I am pooped.

First up is the son's rod.

    Now for Dad's rod

Look at these guide feet on this Snake Brand guide. This is how they are right out of the plastic baggie. These are by far my favorite guides to wrap. No prep is needed at all.

I have been using nothing but Snake Brand guides for years. I never need to modify any of them because each one is a perfect match to all the others in an order.
Mike and Susan always make me feel special when I phone in an order. They do care about their products.

They are back in business now after having given it up for a short period of time.
I know they are not Sponsors but in my opinion do make the best guides in the World.
    You can buy them direct.

The originals have a flat bottom to the foot that works perfectly on bamboo. The Universals have a concave bottom to the foot that lets it sit closer to the blank and kind of auto-align the guide on the blank.

Mike does make you feel like you are his only customer. I'm not using them exclusively yet, but will be as soon as I use up the others I have on hand.

    Hi Kevin,

I can only echo the thoughts of the rest. It is great to see you working on rods again, and the rods can only be described as beautiful.

    Regards,

    Gandolf

    Nice ...

The thread for the wraps is ProWrap 507-Pea Soup. No CP was used.

First of all ... great looking stripper and I'm using one on the next rod ... This is pea soup? I like the color and may have to try some ProWrap thread ... don't like the colors what the wife returned with from Joann's yesterday ...
