    Default HOT MORNING - Panfish - Dec 17, 2012

    HOT MORNING
I had the day off and I needed to be on the water. It was 6:00 a.m. and the temperature was 83 degrees. I knew it would get worse later in the day. It had been this way for two weeks. I loaded the canoe the night before along with everything else.
I arrived at one of my favorite ponds for the first time this year. I can see that the water is down about two feet, that is the effect of no rain and hot dry winds.

    Interesting post, Rick.

I have experienced similar situations. Sometimes the fish just LOVE that reddish-orange boa yarn leech! I think the ones I tie are from the red/orange portions of the "Tweety Bird" color Bernat Boa yarn. That yarn also has yellow in it, but the yellow works fine all by itself most of the time.

I wonder if a red or orange marabou leech would have worked? Sounds like it was mostly an issue of color. But if they were striking short, as you mentioned, the boa yarn leech probably has a shorter tail than a marabou leech would.
