fly fishing near Kimberley, South Africa?

Hi,

Can anyone advise if there are any fly fishing opportunities at a small South African town call Kathu about 3 hours drive from Kimberly? I'll be there for 3 weeks in Aug and may have some time to explore the region with a fly rod during the week ends.

Hi there I am afraid I can't help with details for that area but I can tell you that there is some great fly fishing in South Africa, mostly in private farm dams.
You may be best served by trying some internet research on outfitters in S.A.

Hi there,

I am from Capetown, South Africa, and although i have not fished the Kimberly area, I can tell you that in the that area you have the opportunity to fish for one of our indigenous species - the Yellowfish. These fish are known to be incredibly powerful and will readily take flies. Czech Nymphing tactics seem to be the most popular. I suggest that when you are in the area you should contact local tackle dealers as to the best spots to fish for them.
