    Default Hot Off The Bench

Just completed this morning. 6' 3" Paul Young Midge converted to a quad(PMQ). Impregnated blank, red silk wraps with black tipping, 5 1/2 inch grip, cork reel seat with aluminum sliding bands, lightly flamed bamboo. Rod weighs 2.23 OZ.

Just came in from lawn casting and it handles a DT 4 with ease. Feels like a conductor's baton in the hand! I got a feeling this will get a workout when I visit The Hise Fishing Shack in a couple of weeks!

Off to the sewing maching to make a nice rod sack for the little wand!

Be sure and keep that beauty handy when you visit Cumberland Transit in Nashville. And I'm sure there is someplace nice to have lunch in the area.

I like it a lot Brad!

Hard to imagine the Paul Young Midge in a quad configuration.

Mighty powerful little 6' 3" rod!

7 day soak, 3 days in the drying cabinet @ 80* F. Buff with steel wool. Gives you a nice semi gloss finish.

Those are made from aluminum tubing from the big box store. I wanted to keep the weight down as much as possible.

I have a 3 wt. I built several years ago with a similar handle/seat. I was on my pontoon a few weeks back and had my reel fall off into the lake, luckily my drag was tight enought to pull it back up without unwinding the entire line and backing. Keep an eye on your bands when fishing they may work loose. Otherwise, I love the handle and the way you can feel the blank flex when you get a nice fish on. I wish my rod looked as good as yours, nice job Brad.

I have used the bands on the last 5-6 rods I have built and have had no problems. Never had one move yet, but there is always tomorrow.
