Thread: This Is My Country....

I voted today too. I will always remember the story my Irish immigrant Grandmother told me about the first time she voted in her adopted country, the USA. It was the first time women were allowed to vote in the USA. She was frightened by the male poll workers sitting at the table, but she voted anyway. They started tugging on their mustaches and puffing away on the cigars each time a woman walked into the polling place.

My wife and I both voted before work. The kids have been reluctant to vote. However, my son enlisted in the army a fee years ago and has voted in every election since. Funny how some things change your perspective.

waited in line 20 minutes --loved every second. I heard the wait was about 40 minutes earlier in the day. I was overjoyed. Was hoping we would have an outstanding turnout then heard from one of the workers at the polls that the large crowd was due to a re-districting .So an even bigger salute to all that took the time to vote today.

YES!! My wife and I voted this morning. My son registered and voted this afternoon. Everyone who votes can complain, those who don't vote, have no right to say anything!!!!

My wife and I voted early and I worked at the polls so there would be enough workers. 6 a.m. until about 7:30 p.m. final clean up and security machines and materials most of the time on my feet. At total of 1387 voters at our district yesterday (many had early voted in addition to these) One lady who probably weighed 95 lbs. told me it took her three day to recover from working at the last election.

My 87 year old mom was expecting to work the polls in Louisiana.
