Thread: "symbicort" fishing?

  1. #1

    Default "symbicort" fishing?

has anyone noticed the pharmaceutical advertising where an elderly man appears to take his son and grandson fishing and is using a rod that is no longer than 4 feet long? He seems to "throw" the line out instead of casting it. the stripping guide seems to be extended from the rod blank some 1 1/2" too.

Is that the one where he's wearing a huge fly fishing vest with absolutely nothing attached to it?

With the rod and reel looking like a surf rod?

If it's the commercial I am thinking of the rod looks like a spinning rod with a fly reel, I was wondering if it could be a center pin rig. TV ad flyfisherman are one of my favorite peeves. There was a poster in our favorite cafereria line that had an automatic reel on the seat backward, but the food was great for a southern boy.

I know they have a video they play at church of a fly fisherman landing a man who acts like a fish but the fisherman is a pretty good flycaster, his fight techniques are poor however.

I know the ad. That's not a fly rod. No idea what it is.

That other guy with gout is way, way too wristy.

Gillette did it right. They had Jason Borger casting in the ad.

I've wondered about that - thought it was just some fighting butt arrangement.

Here's a center pin setup and the shot from the commercial.

That commercial has bugged me for months. My wife got tired of my pointing out all the inconsistencies with the reality of flyfishing, although there are a few people around that probably could have made it work.
    They're just fish, right? Right?
