Default Not the best choice of word

While I am sitting here half asleep, the lady on the radio news announced "voters are receiving dueling pieces from the opposing campaigns." I thought for a moment the last couple of weeks of the election was going to be very intense and interesting.

No, I don't really remember dueling pieces but I have seen them in museums and on televisions.

That would have been my first thought too. Maybe a good photo would be of the two candidate dressed in period clothing, standing back to back, single action pistols raised, ready to pace off. The second thought that occured to me was of banjos...

They would probably be figuring out a way for the other gun to miss fire

To hijack my own thread: I saw a program on one of the cable channels, where a group from Australia replicated the magic bullet. Set up ballistic jell dummies with skeletons and same firing angles from the book depository, got very similar results.

Dragging Uncle Jesse backto the thread...

I suspect the duelling pieces would closely resemble the ones in Mark Twain's "The Great French Duel". Perhaps using cap pistols instead...

How about paint balls at 10 paces (safety goggles mandatory)

Can you still buy cap guns? I would think some "do-gooder, we will take care of you" group would have had them banned by now.

You can on the internet, the Walmart website had 1 version in orange plastic, Toys R Us none. I am pretty sure in the pile of storage in my basement there are a pair of the Lone Ranger version of Mattel's Fanner 50 from the late 70's.
