    Default Pflueger Medalist 1492 1/2

So I recently acquired a medalist (the 1973-74 model as far as I can tell) that my buddy had on a jig pole for ice fishing, he was selling an extra pack basket he had and I told him I'd buy it if he threw in the reel. It appears to be in perfectly fine working condition, I was wondering if anyone out there is still using one, I'm considering getting a small stream rod and I think that the reel would work out pretty good for a 4 or 3 weight. Anyone have any insight they can provide or their experiences using one of these reels? Maybe a rod that you may have paired it with give me some ideas on putting together a vintage outfit?

Man, there are tons of people still using the Pflueger reels of all models. They are very hardy, look classy and sound nice when a fish makes a run. Enjoy it

I have a 1492 on my Lamiglass 7ft 3wt, and a 1492-1/2 on my Eagle Claw 7ft 5wt .... both balance out fairly well and definitely look awesome.

I have one and several of its bigger brothers. They are all-time classics.
Unless you need a fine drag system or a large arbor for lines that have memory they are hard to beat.
    Durability is beyond question.
