    Question Lead strips

Where can I buy the fine lead strips as used by Davie McPhail in his videos?
The pieces suggested by golfers seem too thick and must be cut by a user.

I found some at Home Depot that were used to balance ceiling fans. I don't know if they still have them but it's worth a look.

Check around the golf stuff at Walmart or other stores that pander to that kind of rabble. They use them to weight their club heads.

Had a senior moment, I forgot that some wine bottles have lead foil around the neck. I don't drink much wine so I don't know which one have it, it think it is some of the red wines. Not the bottles with the screw off tops.

    Ray,

The thinnest lead strips I have found were given to me by a dentist. They are approx 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" square and are used for oral x-rays. Very soft stuff but can be folded and molded. I was given about 5 pounds of this stuff. Want some? PM with your mailing address.

Veniard has strips of lead, but they aren't in very big packs. I got some by mail from a guy in N. Ont. Google flymart (maybe??) Also I saw a query on here lately for jackdaw scalp. There was a place in Md.(again maybe) that sold it and some other Veniard stuff. Maybe Betty can help. I think it was her who was looking for jackdaw.Davie uses a lot of Veniard material.

Golfsmith has two sizes 1"x75" and 1/2"x36", surprisingly neight BPS or Cabelas has it. Apparently a tennis pro shop may have it in stock also.

Sportsmans Warehouse / Wholesale Sports carry lead sheets - you do have to cut it to the width you want.

Not as hard as you might think. All you need is a cutting pad, a metal straight edge, and a sharp blade (e.g. an Xacto knife). You can then cut to any size you need. Economical and pretty easy to do.
