Took this last week while chasing bones on Oahu. The boogers would not cooperate that day, but the scenery was beautiful as always.

Nniiccceeee!!!!!!!!!
I think this is the first time I've heard of FLATS on the Hawaiian Islands. I thought every beach went out a few feet and then dropped off into the abyss. Sorry the fish weren't biting but it's HAWAII !!! How bad can that be???

Oahu has some beautiful flats. This is just 10 miles east of Honolulu. My son was out there with me last year. This is his first bonefish. The numbers aren't great, but there are some pigs. My PB is 11#, about 4 months ago.
That's a nice fish!

Out here we call them Oio.
That's prettier than Bennett Byron.

Byron? I didn't know you had them as well - shallow or deep water?
The fishing is in the flats. There are a couple locations on Kauai. The problem is the trade wind. I don't do it myself. Have seen others with little success here. It is done by wading here rather than by boat. Some folks go out into deep water and fly fish for ahi (yellow fin tuna) from the boat with huge flies. Unfortunately, I get seasick.
The best flats fishing is on Molokai.
