Byron -

I was reading through the October Caddis thread started by ScottP last year and noticed a reference by DG to mahogany duns on the Lochsa in September in the general area that I've been fishing. It is quite possible that insect ( emergers ) is what the fishies are taking the Renegade for. It is not a hatch that I've been able to observe there, as in capturing and examining an adult specimen, but I'll take DG's word any time on something like that.

Several years ago, on Big Elk Creek in SE Idaho, when the Western Green Drakes were emerging, the Snake River cutts in that crick were all over a larger ( size 12 ) Renegade. Not sure that is relevant - but I do find it interesting.

The Renegade was the only fly I fished today, for about five hours, and produced the best day for both quality and quantity that I've had there in the past month or so.
