Thread: Suggestions for Graphite Rod Blank

Default Suggestions for Graphite Rod Blank

Looking for a 9' 5 or 6 wt graphite fly rod blank. I do not want an ultra fast, stiff blank. I want a blank with a "medium-fast" action, one that flexes deeper into -- not just tip flex -- the rod. I'm thinking IM6?

The rod is intended as a big river rod for large trout and smallmouth bass.

    What blank(s) would you suggest?

Two blanks that I would look at are the Batson Rainshadow RX7 IF906-4 and the American Tackle Matrix AMX 906-4. Both are medium fast and reasonably priced. These are 6wt blanks, a 5wt would be 905.

Another vote here for the Batson. Great blank , affordable and cast great.

I got the Batson RX6 Rainshadaw black and would also pitch a vote for Batson, which ever one you decide to go with
