Surgery today

Our boy Gary's thyroid cancer surgery was postponed until 1PM today. Gary's a bit nervous but one brave young guy. Mom is a nervous wreck and I am very nervous myself. We will be going to the Hershey Medical Center very shortly.

If you get a chance please send a thought, prayer, wish our way today.

I will never forget the day that little boy climbed up on my knee professing to me that he decided to call me dad. Got to go. Getting too hard to read the screen right now.

P.S. Gary's "real dad" or as Gary calls him the sperm donor has been basically a no show through all of this. I have been his dad since he was 4 years old, 23 fantastic years and counting. These have been the best days of my life. I honestly don't understand how people can have children and not want to be involved in their lives, but that's me. Okay I do pray for his biological father too. My Lord loves us all. Off soap box now.

Trust me, Gary has only one "real dad"...and it isn't the other guy. As a man who hasn't seen his biological father since kindergarten, I was blessed with a step-father we called "Dad" in every sense of the word. Dad is something you do, not a title. I think Gary was wise to pick you for that job.
