    Default Around Pagosa Springs, CO

Been here going on 2 weeks and have been having some luck at catching fish.
This is a 19" rainbow from the lake in my back yard.

and a 6' green perch on a furled tail hopper at Echo Lake.

The East Fork of the San Juan.

My friend Mike with a nice 17' 'bow.

    More to come. Jim

Herefishy, Water in the rivers, San Juan and Piedra, are very low. We've had some rain since we've been here but not enough to raise the flow much. We were in Durango friday and the Animas is a lot lower than usual. Looks like fall flows around here. Also the waters I've waded are very warm. I'm used to the rivers and streams in the Eastern Sierras of California. They are cold year round. Jim

Drove the wife and daughter-in-law to a trailhead on the Piedra river this morning. Told them I'd find something to keep me busy while they were hiking.

I found this spot on the river.

Made friends with this guy and another about the same size.

After the ladys returned we drove up to Williams Res. just to check it out before driving back to Pagosa Springs.
I will probably bring my pontoon back here someday soon.

Took a drive down to an abandoned train station called Pagosa Junction yesterday. I stopped to take a photo of this fork in the San Juan River

While we were stopped this little feller crossed the road about 50 feet from where we were parked. I got nervous and couldn't set my camera properly.

My wife was ready with her trusty cell phone

The train place was pretty interesting as you can see by this old rail car
