You must mean Townsend .... then going on over toward Elkmont -

Check the fishing reports on Little River outfitter's web site. If the water temps. are 68* and below (on the lower Little river where they take them) they should be cooler up at Elkmont by a few degrees. When the lower river temps are 70* or higher, I leave the trout alone and fish for smallmouth on the same river (the Little) down from townsend a few miles in the Walland, Tn area. On the other side of the mountain, you will also have good smallmouth fishing on the Little Pigeon, in Sevierville and Pigeon forge. Abrams Creek in Cades Cove is spring fed and stays colder in the summer months, so there you have a few fly fishing options!

Except. Avoid Pigeon Forge at all costs, especially on the weekend! The main drag has umpteen stoplights and the traffic will be heavy!
There are also a few access points on the Little River just outside the park entrance. While in Townsend have dinner at Miss Lillys at least once.
The gas prices at the PB/IGA were the lowest in the State.
