In the spirit of "cheaper is better if it is good enuff", I am mystified by posts claiming that a steel tube bobbin is worthless. A while back I picked one particular stainless steel bobbin to tie "all my flies" with. I only use waxed Danville in 3 sizes. The dreaded notched tube tip has failed to materialize. Do those of you who wear out steel bobbins use Kevlar a lot? The bobbin I picked to tie on until "Hell, or the equivalent, freezes over" is a cheap one. It's done thousands of flies. Why is my experience outside the norm? Or is it the norm? Not necessarily Youth wants to know.
