I can't imagine it ever "getting old". Even if it does, the memories will linger. At any time I can call up the ten-or-more-year-old recollection of a rainbow trout rising to a size 20 midge emerger pattern. It was such a perfect head-and-tail rise; neb, dorsal and tail rolling out through the surface film as the fly disappeared that I immediately knew it would not even require a hookset, just a gentle lift of the rod tip and tightening of the line.
