Going on trip to Michigan next week. Anyone know of any place to fish right near Vermontville? I know of one shop in Charlotte that I can stop by and ask for their advise, but thought I'd ask here to get ideas. Thanks.

Not a well known trout area although some big browns are known to that part of the territory. Jack Hise used to live just north of there and he likes warm water. PM him.

The nearest trout water that I know of is the coldwater river near Caledonia about a half hour from you. This is a tributary of the Thornapple which is a well known smallmouth stream. I'm not very familiar with this small stream as I have only fished it once. To the Southwest of you will be Augusta creek near Augusta. This will be a somewhat longer drive but it has a good reputation as a trout stream. Ten Miles North of Grand Rapids is the Rogue river which I would recommend if you plan to fish long enough to justify the drive though it can be crowded due to it's proximity to the city. If you are willing to drive that far or farther than that send me a P.M.
