#FlyPoker ...today's hand is extended body mayflies.
I have a lot of fun with "#BirdPoker" on Google+. So I thought I'd give it a shot here--morphed into FAOL land as FlyPoker.
I'll see Byron's extended body BWO and raise it (or am I calling that bet?) an extended body PMD.
I won't have my normal photography setup for another few months (house remodeling) so my photo is a bit fuzzy.
But the fly is close to what I wanted:
Rubberleg abdomen.
Fibettes tails.
14/0 gray thread
CDC wing
Zelon legs
#22 DaiRiki 135 hook......tied on a #13 beading needle, wings legs and all. Then slid off the needle and mounted on the hook. A few well-placed micro dots of thin CA glue help to make it durable enough to fish with, without using too many thread wraps. The abdomen is soft and entirely flexible--for what ever that's worth. Using the hook this way largely decouples fly size from hook size--so this fly is larger than a standard Catskill tie would be, if tied on a hook this small. This fly is, in fact, just about PMD size.
