I have the breathable dry plus from Cabela's and they are great. As mentioned Cabela's stands behind their products.

Thanks for the input. I really like LL Bean and Cabellas but I will probably go with the Cabellas since we have one of their stores about 45 minutes from me. That way I can go check them out before buying them.
Well, I ain't always right but I've never been wrong..

You need to call LL Bean customer service like I just did to get a grip. It is NOT a "LIFETIME" warranty, it is a "satisfaction" guarantee to protect against manufacturing defects. In the words of the very nice customer service rep I spoke with 2 minutes ago, "We would not be here next week if it was a lifetime warranty, and you would not believe how many people misunderstand that."

    Yes, I would believe.

I've been using the Dry Plus waders for years. The first pair had a seam running up the inside of my legs and eventually wore out at the inside of my knees from those seams rubbing against each other. Their gravel guards were too tight for easy on and off and their belt loops were too tight to get the plastic belt budkle through easily. My second pair had all of those flaws fixed.

Wow...and the charitable words keep rolling. Gettting a grip would entail doing my research...which I did. Here, catch!

    Etc.

And of course there was my original phone call where they re-emphasized their satisfaction guarantee.

Guess we just had different experiences...

I picked up a set of Cabela's First Flight (boot foot) Waders in the middle of last season. They are comfortable, breathable, and easy to put on and take off. They look and feel well built. What else could you ask for?

All I can say is give them a call and ask about their warranty policy for waders. Specifically talk about waders, not the policy in general.

By your logic, all anyone would have to do is buy 2 sets of $79 waders (one in use and one as a spare) and keep sending them back FOREVER when they got a rip or hole or wore out. Like Nancy at customer service told me, they would go out of business quickly if that was true. Simms and everyone else would fold too, because who would pay $400-$700 for waders when they could spend $160 and never think about it again? Like she said, it does not cover rips, tears, holes, abuse, etc. If it is a manufacturing defect, it will present itself rather quickly such as poorly sealed seams or whatever.

I'm sure they probably replace far more torn waders than they should, just to keep customers coming back. Last year I went to a new LLBean retail store near Rochester, NY, and was shocked at the lack of fishing gear, and the complete absence of hunting gear other than boots and a little bit of clothing. It was basically an REI-- tons of "image wear", camping stuff, canoes and kayaks, and bikes. I asked the manager about it, he said the company is moving away from the hunting equipment because they feel it keeps away certain segments of their customers. !!!! This from a company which was founded on hunting gear. I like a lot of their clothing and one of my favorite fishing caps is LLBean, but that troubled me.
